Three generations of the musical Shulman family (in ascending age order: Elliot, Damon, and Phil) sat down this summer at Room 15 (Damon's home studio) to mark their legacy in the history books by recording a series of podcasts.
This insightful idea was the brainstorm of grandson Elliot (15), to interview his grandpa – one of the founding members of both Simon Dupree and the Big Sound and Gentle Giant, whose influence to this day continues to inspire musicianship and experimentation.
Damon (read my interview with Damon Shulman 'Doing his own thing') told me:
"The podcast is hosted by my son Elliot. The interview is packed with lots of great stuff with Phil Shulman talking about his early musical influences, his history with Simon Dupree and the Big Sound and Gentle Giant and much, much more!"
"Believe me, it's an absolute must for fans of Gentle Giant and Simon Dupree. It wouldn't be possible anywhere else. Check it out."
So come along and join the family discussion as Phil enlightens us with his razor sharp memory, clever wittiness, and very charming voice! about a way of life we should dare to dream about.
